You’ve seen it in Live Oak Park, nestled between Joslyn Center and the ball field.
The original Manhattan Beach Scout House was built by volunteers in 1952. It’s seen the original Pinewood Derby, Eagle ceremonies, Troop meetings, and so much more.
Clearly the facility has outlived its useful life, and it’s on its last legs.
We need to build a new facility for future generations of Scouts—but also to provide additional space for Manhattan Beach’s seniors and the community at large.
Thanks to hundreds of donations from members of the community and local businesses, as of December 2021, $3.5M has been raised to construct a brand new 7,000 square foot state-of-the-art structure. A beautiful backdrop for our civic events. A gathering place for our next generation and our greatest generation. And a place that will make our community proud for years to come.
To see the proposed new Senior & Scout Community center come to life, join us on our newest flyover journey!
We’d like to thank our top donors:
Legend ($500,000+): City of Manhattan Beach, Manhattan Beach Property Owners Association
Visionary ($250,000-$499,999): Joan Hood Jones
Leader ($100,000-$249,999): Jim & Joanne Hunter, Beach Cities Health District, Chevron Products Company, Continental Development Corporation, SKECHERS

We are thrilled to announce that our project has received approval from the Manhattan Beach Planning Commisson.
The Commission heard presentations from the staff of the City Community Development Department, Friends Board Member Julie Justus McGinity and Architect Louie Tomaro, who provided a complete overview of the building design. Neighborhood concerns were addressed regarding environmental, noise, parking, trees and traffic studies as part of the overall presentation.
We can now move on to the Final Design Phase for approval in spring of 2024. Groundbreaking is currently projected to be Spring of 2025. As many have experienced, even as homeowners, it takes a long time to get all the pieces in place to approve new construction, but we are well on our way, thanks to you!
